The Crabtree PM sponsored under 11’s football team ended the 2014-15 season as runners up in the AFA County Cup and narrowly missed out on promotion on the final day of the season.
The under 11 Tigers, marking their first full season as a team, have made great progress and narrowly missed out on promotion despite playing catch-up having forfeited a number of earlier games whilst the team was being assembled. The Tigers needed a win in the final game which proved elusive having lost the final the day beforehand. The cup final appearance was a great achievement following a pulsating 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory against a higher ranked side in the semi-final.
The Tigers were captained by the son of Assistant Property Manager, Luke Cunningham. As well as cheering each game from the side lines, Luke also filled in as manager for one of the games, winning 7-0. Luke said “It’s been a long, tough season for the boys and the overriding emotion at the end of it all is immense pride. On a personal note it’s been season full of accomplishments – my son was promoted to the Tigers after finishing players player of the year and top goal scorer for the Jaguars last season and within making a few appearances for the Tigers at the start of this season was selected as Captain.
The highlight of it all was the semi-final win over Broomfield in the AFA County Cup which went all the way to penalties after one of the most entertaining games of youth football I have ever witnessed. That win epitomised everything the boys stand for; togetherness, hard work and a determination to win. The future undoubtedly looks bright for the squad and I would like to thank Crabtree who have been a brilliant sponsor to the team.”
Crabtree would like to congratulate the team on reaching the cup final and the effort during a demanding season.
